Materials: Leather, silk twill
ribbon, linen lining.Condition: Very good to
excellent, leather discolored but not dry.
Measurements: L 9.5",
W 2.25".
Comments: Straight last
shoes from the 1830s are difficult to find. On this pair the vamp was
intentionally split and a silk ribbon rosette added as
decoration, giving height to the top of the foot. The flat leather
soles clearly show the transition of shoe design from the 1820s rounded
hourglass shape to the broad square toe of the mid 19th C. |
