Materials: Chestnut brown fine cotton, cotton lining, 17 Willow
canes.
Condition: Excellent, appears to be
nearly perfect. The front cane has a break (not very noticeable),
there is one tiny 3/8" spot where the cane has worn through the
cotton and a couple of small holes in the bonnet skirt..
Measurements: Height, 10.5";
Width, 11"; Depth, 8"; Length of bonnet skirt, 13.5".
Comments: Calashes between
the late 18th c. and early 19th c., were worn by ladies to protect their
hair and lace caps when traveling out of doors. Extremely
collectible and hard to find.
