Materials: Either cotton and wool or silk and wool
thread.

Comments: During the latter
half of the 19th C., the middle class was growing wealthier and could
now afford luxury goods before only accessible to the wealthier classes.
One of these luxuries was lace shawls & stoles, now machine made thanks
to the technology of the day. Machine made bobbin laces in particular
were nearly impossible to distinguish from the exorbitantly expensive
hand made ones. This near perfect machine made Spanish bobbin lace stole
was made during this period of textile innovation.
