Materials: Burgundy leather, black silk
faille lining, silk change purse with silver chain, chrome closure with
chrome spring.
Provenance: Clutch belonged to socialite
Georgie Smith Young Ridgley Hebbard Wilkins. Georgie was born in San
Francisco, c. 1906. She lived in Baltimore, New York City and Paris
before moving to Beacon Hill, Boston where she lived for over 50 years
until her death in 2001.
Label: Stamped in silver, an icon of a
leaping stag plus a woven silk "Bergdorf Goodman" label.
Condition: Excellent. In lining one
small tear and some soiling.

Comments: This butter soft leather
clutch has an unusual Moderne design. The cut out chrome band flips down
(bottom spring) to release the folded over top. Clutch is designed with
a back hand hold and two small interior pockets as well as a change
purse on a chrome chain. Included in this sale are the 50+ year old
contents - two tickets to the 1949 Princeton/Harvard football game, two
3 cent stamps and other appointment cards. |
