Materials: Peach braided straw, blue pleated organdy, pink gros-grain ribbon, velvet and cloth flowers, ivory silk lining, wire and buckram.

Provenance: Hat belonged to Evabelle Higgins Smith Young Strahn (3 marriages!) of San Francisco or her daughter, Georgie. Evabelle daughter was socialite Georgie Smith-Young Ridgley Hebbard Wilkins' of New York and Boston. Georgie was born in San Francisco, c. 1906.

Measurements: 13" x 14"; Crown Ht, 5.5"; Head C, 24".

Comments: Perhaps this hat was worn by Georgie Smith as a teenager to her mother's marriage to Colonel Malcolm Young....or perhaps it was worn by Evabelle while on vacation in Hawaii....The straw on this early 1920s hat is unusually pliant; it is exceptional quality. The millinery workmanship superb.
