Materials: Irish handmade Limerick
lace fashioned from ecru cotton net, cream and ecru cotton floss.
Condition: Excellent. A few light
brown marks, which would probably come out in laundering.
Measurements: 18" x 88".
Comments: Limerick lace was the
most expensive of the laces made in Ireland and handmade examples are
rare. This piece was made by embroidering on a hexagonal mesh ground
with two thicknesses of thread. The design is on this lace is
beautifully balanced. It is finished on all sides and can be worn as a
scarf, stole or veil.
